This Privacy Policy explains how Montrait Muay Thai and Fitness collects, uses, and protects personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy law.

1. Who We Are 

Montrait Muay Thai and Fitness is a Muay Thai gym in Little Portugal, Toronto, Ontario. This policy applies to information collected through montraitmuaythai.com, in person at our facility, and through any other interactions with MMT.

2. Information We Collect

• Identity & contact: name, email, phone number, date of birth
• Health & fitness: injury history, fitness level, medical conditions disclosed during onboarding
• Payment: billing address and payment method (processed via secure third-party provider — MMT does not store full card numbers)
• Media: photographs and video taken during classes and events
• Communications: newsletter sign-ups, messages sent via website or social media
• Website usage: IP address, browser type, pages visited (via cookies and analytics tools)

3. How We Use Your Information

• Delivering and personalizing training programs and coaching
• Adapting training to your fitness level and injury history for safety
• Processing membership fees and purchases
• Sending class schedules, program updates, and (with consent) newsletters
• Using photos/video for marketing and social media
• Maintaining records as required by law
• Improving our website and services using aggregated, non-identifiable data

4. Sharing Your Information 

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share it with: trusted service providers (payment processors, scheduling software, email platforms) who are contractually bound to protect it; legal authorities if required by law; parties involved in a business transfer (members will be notified). We do not share data with advertising networks or data brokers.

5. Cookies & Website Tracking 

Our website uses: essential cookies (required for site function); analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site; and third-party embeds (YouTube videos, Google Maps) which may set their own cookies. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect site functionality.

6. Children’s Privacy 

We collect information about minors only with prior written parental or guardian consent, and only to the extent needed to deliver safe, age-appropriate programming. Parents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child’s information at any time.

7. Data Retention

• Active member records: kept for the duration of membership plus a reasonable period thereafter
• Health and waiver records: minimum 7 years from last date of participation
• Payment records: 7 years (tax and accounting requirements)
• Newsletter contacts: until unsubscribe

8. Security 

We use PCI-compliant payment processors and do not store full credit card numbers. Access to personal information is restricted to staff who need it to do their jobs. No electronic system is 100% secure — contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your information.

9. Your Rights (under PIPEDA) 

You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request corrections to inaccurate data; withdraw consent to non-essential uses (e.g. marketing emails) at any time; and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca). We respond to requests within 30 days.
