Everyone starts somewhere. Our Foundations program is built for adults stepping into Muay Thai for the first time, or back to training after a time away. Our coaches build your technical base, physical conditioning, and confidence to train for life.

Technique & Movement

Learn the foundational strikes and footwork of Muay Thai. Proper stance, hand position, and the exercises used throughout every class are covered from day one.

Strength & Conditioning

Develop the mobility, strength, and power needed to train confidently. We include targeted work for flexibility and past limitations so nothing holds you back.

The Muay Thai Culture

Learn basic Thai language, counting, strike names, and greetings. It’s an important part of class at MMT, and one we take seriously.

Peter began martial arts as a youth (Karate, Wing Chun, Muay Thai). He returned at 22, and competed at a high level, fighting some of the best fighters in Canada for 8 years before retiring.

Ben has been training in Muay Thai since 2010. Combining his love for martial arts with his mechanical engineering and biomechanics background, Ben takes a scientific approach to teaching anyone from beginners to seasoned fighters.

Who is this Class for?

For beginners and anyone with under 6 months of training, our Foundations Muay Thai Program was designed for YOU!

If you are completely new to Muay Thai, you will not feel out of place here. Many of our members start with no prior experience in martial arts or structured training.

Kru Peter built this program after years of trial and error, so you can learn at your own pace without pressure to keep up with more advanced students.

Our Foundations program is also a strong fit if you’re returning after a break or want to build proper technique first.

What to Expect

We believe the way you start something strongly predicts your long-term results. Our first step is figuring out what your unique needs are. Based on your goals and current fitness level, our  Muay Thai coaches will put together a tailored plan to fit your individual needs to help you establish a strong baseline of conditioning as well as a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Muay Thai. Everybody is unique and every fitness level is too. We train the individual, not the ideal.

As you progress through the program, you’ll work through our Foundations Muay Thai and exercise syllabus. Covering all the essential Muay Thai techniques. We don’t believe in “sink or swim”. Our job is to give you the knowledge, tools and fitness you’ll need to succeed in our fast-paced Muay Thai class environment.

Montrait Muay Thai has been an absolute blessing. I started my Muay Thai journey back in February with no prior combat sports experience and wasn’t sure what to expect.
